Tallest Shiva Statue of world is in Saanga of Kavre of Nepal!!! Visit Saanga !!!

Aerial View of  Statue
Located in Saanga, the border of Bhaktapur and Kavre districts, this 108 ft tall statue of Lord Shiva is supposedly the tallest statue of Lord Shiva in the world. The combined height along with the base is about 144ft. The picture of the Shiva idol shows him holding a Trishul in one hand and other hand is in blessing posture. The murti (idol) is made of cement and can withstand minor earth quakes and strong  wind. There is a children's park and other recreational features around the statue that makes it a popular destination for visitors.
front view of statue

About half and hour from Kathmandu, it boasts amazing views of the city and the mountains and lush green of  Bhaktapur fields. It is located 22 kms in eastern direction of Kathmandu and 5 kms west from banepa near araniko highway. The tallest Shiva statue in the world is constructed on the financial support of Kamal Jain who follows Jain religion. Now, doesn't it seem like there's much needed thing called religious solidarity in Nepal. Mr. Jain who is the proprietor of Hilltake water tank, one of the leading water tank industries in Nepal is beleived to have invested more than 11 crores to build this statue.

During the unveiling, a helicopter of Fishtail Air was throwing flowers on the statue from above.
during construction

The construction took 6 years and involved 100 Nepali and skilled labors from India. The construction of foundation alone took two years. To protect the statue from natural factors like sun, wind, and rain, it is coated with zinc. It is further coated with copper on top of zinc coating. According to Kamal Jain, the outer cover of the statue contains 6000 kgs of zinc and copper.

It was inaugurated by Nepalese Tourism Minister Sharad Singh Bhandari of that time on on june 20th 2010.  A concept of homestay has also been launched in this site to promote local tourism. And I strongly feel that is the most attractive dating spot for the couple away from hustle and bustly of kathmandu city . One can have panoramic views of mountain and enjoy the nature. One can take advantage of natural therapy and other recreational activities in the centre.

Manakamana is the name of a Hindu Goddess. It is believed that the Goddess fulfils the wishes of the people. The term ‘mana’ means the ‘heart’ or ‘soul’ and ‘kamana’ means the ‘wish’. There are other temples having same name in nepal but the most popular one is from gorkha. It is said that a King of Gorkha was blessed by the goddess to get victory over small kingdoms and make a big Gorkha. Manakamana of gorkha is a popular place for a specific fair called Panchami.
The queen of Ram Shah, the king of Gorkha born in 1614 AD, was a goddess known to only her devotee, Lakhan Thapa. One day the king saw his queen in the form of a goddess.
Cable car seen from other cable car
He told about it to the queen and he died instantly, in 1636 AD. The queen committed Sati (commit cremation with the husband's pyre as per custom of that time). Lakhan Thapa lamented on her Sati. The queen consoled him to reappear again. Six months later, a farmer hit a stone while ploughing his field. Blood and milk came out from the stone. Lakhan Thapa came to know the news. He worshipped the place with 'tantric' rituals. The flow of blood and milk ceased. The site became the foundation of the present-day shrine- Manakamana Temple. Manakamana meaning wishes fulfilling goddess. The current pujari, Priest, is the 17th generation descendant of Lakhan Thapa.

Maula Kalika one of the Religious destination of Nepal!!!!

Located in the premises of holy religious site Devghat Dham, the Maula Kalika temple locally called danda kalika  is a famous religious pilgrimage and tourist site of the nawalparasi district of Nepal. The temple is situated on the hilltop, around a kilometer north of the East-West Highway in Gaindakot VDC-1 of Nawalparasi lying in the lap of the Narayani River in the mid-part of Nepal. To reach the temple, it takes two kilometers trek to hill upward from three kilometers west of Narayanghat of Chitwan. One has to cross 1,892 footsteps to reach up to the temple from the base of the hill  till where one can go through vehichle.
Maula Kalika Temple

The temple is highly-acclaimed from the point of view of religious tourism and ecology for its location in the altitude of 561 metres from sea-level in the summit above the holy shrines of Devghat, which is nestled at the confluence of two  rivers- the Kali Gandaki and the Trisuli originating from Damodarkunda and Gosainkunda and on the junction of Nawalparasi, Chitwan and Tanahun districts. This natural location of temple has enhanced her touristy and spiritual attraction. Devghat is regarded as the best and most ancient of the prayagas(confluence of two rivers).
Resting place in the way to Maula Kalika
Situated on the hilltop amidst dense green forest, it is gaining recognition as a spiritual centre as well as a holy place for fulfilling the wishes expressed by devotees and worshippers before the Goddess. Devotees throng the temple every morning to offer worships and prayers to the Goddess who is believed to materialize people’s longings.
With the increased beauty and panorama of the place with the systematic prayers to the temple since 2038 BS, infrastructure development on the people’s mobilization and constructions of temple in pyagoda style in 2052 BS, the score of visitors has remarkably gone up in the temple for last few years. The snow-capped scenic beauty in the north, holy place Devghat, Chitwan National Park, Sauraha, Tigers Top, and other enchanting natural beauty visible to the north from the temple delight every tourists reaching there. Likewise, people-conserved peace forest park (Banbatika), artistic slate-paved way, stands, tap stands, stations, and various temples on the way to Maulakali are also inspiring people to visit the temple again and again.

Worth-seeing scenes from the hilltop and the pleasure one feels from trekking and wandering green dense forests also mesmerize people there, rocketing the number of visitors arriving in this altitude from all parts of the country thereby help promote internal tourism in the area.
Visitors can offer prayer and worship to Siddi Binayak Ganesh, Shree Krishna and Deurali Devi on the way to Maulakalika and take joy of the incredible natural beauty intensified by the forest and cool and clean weather on the way to the temple.
There has been public belief that their wishes have been accomplished following the worship to the Goddess Kalika believed to impart conspicuous divine power. Hence, devotees and youths are said to have attained their cherished wishes and intended love with the adoration of Bhagawati.
The beautiful statues and idols of Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Mahasaraswori, female deities as well as Tulsimath and

Shivalinga have been set up in the temple premises. Likewise, the temple is well-equipped with RCC kitchen building, room for guests and religious citations, welcome gate, hospitality building and so on. There has also been sound management of drinking water and electricity in the temple.

Visitors felt very difficult to reach the temple a decade before. Everyone is taken aback with the unimagined development of the area when s/he visits the temple after ten years. The temple is a quintessence of human efforts and endeavors, showing what people cannot do with their strong commitment and unwavering will.
Historical background of the temple:

Palpa, queen of the hills beautiful place for tourist

remote village of palpa
Palpa (a historical place) is in Lumbini zone, named for the birthplace of Guatama Buddha. Palpa's high hills command an impressive view of Nepal in all directions with the great Madi Valley in the west and the Kali Gandaki River along its northern border. Palpa is made up on sixty-five VDC areas  and a municipality and a population of around 240 thousand people. The district, withTansen as its headquarters, covers an area of 1,373 km². It is situated at the southern slope of the Mahabhrat range, and the Himalayas. The main religion of the people of Palpa is Hinduism followed by Buddhism. There are also Muslims and Christians in small communities. Tansen was the capital of the Palpa kingdom ruled by the Sen Dynasty, before Nepal was united,. The history of Tansen dates back to the 16th century. Prithvi Narayan Shah, who united Nepal, mother was from the Sen Family. For years the Gorkha and Palpa kingdoms were in alliance and combined them took control of western Nepal. In 1806, Prithivipal Sen, the last king of Palpa, was asked to come to Kathmandu and he was beheaded. Palpa became parted of the Kathmandu kingdom and Tansen became the administrative city for the area. Members of the Shah and Rana family have ruled the region.
view of tansen

At an elevation of about 1350-m (4430 ft) above sea level palpa experiences a pleasant climate throughout the year.
There are many places in palpa district  which are quite interesting for visitors in terms of scenary and historical importance.I would like to maintain few places which shouldn’t be missed.
Tansen is a hill town, enterprising Newar traders and craftspeople and the rich culture of the Magar people and other groups who make up the town and area's population combine to make Tansen unique in Nepal. With views of the Himalaya from Shreenagar and rich natural environment all around, Tansen is one of the most scenic places in Nepal. As a gateway to Palpa and surrounding areas, it offers access to Palpa's variety and character of rural life, small towns, religious and historical sites. Though it boasts a busy market and is a centre in Western Nepal and the headquarters of the Palpa district, Tansen is quiet and pollution free. Kathmandu Valley and Tansen are much closer in their character: Newari houses, cobbled streets, Rana buildings, pagoda temples etc.

An ancient hill town Tansen-1350 meters above sea level is the administrative headquarters of Palpa district. It is a typical Nepali town with numerous fairs, festivals, religious and cultural events. The name Tansen has been derived from the Magar language tansing-means the northern settlement. Magars in Palpa district and Newars in Tansen town inhabit in majority and there are also Chhetris and Brahamins and others.

panoromic view

Tansen is the best and nearest hill station of west Nepal and northern states of India due to its location and climate. There are great views of the Madi Valley from town. From the close by hill call Srinagar Danda, there are excellent views of the Himalaya Mountains. The climate of Tansen is most pleasant throughout the year. In summer it stays mild and charming-hardly exceeds 28° degree Celsius. In winter it is quite warm and sunny -the temperature does not fall near freezing. Tansen Durbar was the palace of the provincial governor built in the Rana style. It has an impressive but run-down eastern gate called ‘Baggi Dhoka’ or ‘Mul Dhoka’. Outside the gate is a public square called ‘Sitalpati’. General Pratap Shamsher built this palace in 1927 AD. It is a four-storied building with sixty-three rooms, two meeting halls, and two minarets at two sides. The main gate of this palace is known as 'Baggi Dhoka' the biggest gate in the Kingdom. The ‘Durbar’ is known as a 'Singh Durbar of Palpa". But this ‘Durbar’ and ‘Mul Dhoka’ is affected during the war with Maoists last year and is now again started to reconstruct. Other attraction of tansen is a traditional three-tiered pagoda-style temple Amar Narayan Temple   built in 1806. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful temples outside of Kathmandu Valley. The temple was built by Amar Singh Thapa, who annexed Tansen to become part of Nepal.
Bhagwati temple

Bhagawati Temple near the Tansen Durbar, was originally built in 1815 to commemorate the victory over the British at Butwal. In the area there are small temples dedicated by Ganesh, Saraswati and Siva. It was rebuilt by Col. Ujir Singh Thapa, the governor of Palpa in 1815 A.D. to commemorate the victory over British Indian troop in the battle front of Butwal.  The temple of God Ganesh called siddhi Binayak, is situated at the slope of srinagar hill just above the town. Devotees visit this temple on every Tuesday. One can have a very good view of the town from here.

Srinagar Danda’ is a 1600m high hill just north of Tansen, from where there are excellent views over the Kali Gandaki River of the Himalaya. We can see Annapurna and Langtang in the east. The 1650 meter high majestic ridge covered with dense pine forest in the south slope and natural vegetation with the National flower 'Rhododendron' in the North Slope is popular for naturalist. During a clear day, a magnificent view of long range of snowy mountains to the north and the vast expanse of Terai plains to the south can be seen. This provides unbroken peace and relaxation.

night view of tansen

The green view of hills around is very enchanting, beautiful and calm. The tranquil Srinagar forest is equally pleasant. A bird’s eye view of Tansen with the green and plain Madi Valley on the background can be enjoyed. It is only the place from where one can see the vast expanse of Terai plains to the south and the long range of snowy mountains to the north. The main snowy peaks seen from here are Dhaulagiri : I- 8167 mtrs., Nilgiri-7061 mtrs., Annapurna: I-8091 mtrs., Hinchuli-6441 mtrs., Machhapuchhare-6997 mtrs., Manaslu-8157 mtrs., Ganesh Himal etc.

Ranighat palace is built by Khadga Shamsher JBR in 1894 AD., on monument of deep love with his queen Tej Kumari. It is very nice palace with the architectural point of view. It is built above a single huge stone near by Kaligandaki river. Ranimahal is popularly pronounced as ‘Tajmahal’ of Nepal. Here is the 2nd largest suspension bridge of Nepal and ‘Alamdevi Mandir’ across the river. ‘Siddapani cave’, ‘Hattidhunga’-huge elephant shaped stone, ‘Baikunthapahar’ - water falls, are on the way form Tansen.

Situated at 5 km North-west of Tansen on the Palpa-Gulmi, this temple also has the largest ‘Trishul’- a symbol of God Shiva, of Asia.  Every year during the Dashain, the greatest festival of Hindus of Nepal, people from different places come here to worship the god- ‘Bhairav’ and show homage by paying Him the blood of five different cattle- known as ‘Panchabali.’

Ridi is one of the historical places of Palpa. Situated at about 20 Km. north-west from the Palpa Headquarters – Tansen, it is also the place where the Ridi River and Kali Gandaki River meet. There is a popular Pagoda-style Rishikesh Mandir, thus contributing to the place being a pilgrimage site. In 1st Magh(15th January) every year, pilgrims from different corners of Nepal come here to take sacred bath in the river and then pay homage at the temple.
