Champions League T20 format and match schedule announced!!11

30 June 2011: The format and match schedule for the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) tournament and qualifying event has been announced, with a record 13 teams from around the world a chance to claim the most prestigious prize in domestic cricket.

The tournament returns to India this year with matches in Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, as well as a qualifying event in Hyderabad. The main tournament will run from 23 September-9 October with the Qualifier immediately beforehand from 19-21 September.

With seven teams already qualified (see below), a six-team qualifying event will be held for the first time to determine the final three participants. The six teams will be divided into two pools and the top team from each pool qualifies for the group stage, with the third team to be the next highest ranked team based on points and then net run rate.

The group stage of the tournament follows the same successful format as 2010. The 10 teams have been divided into two groups for a round robin phase before the top two teams from each group progress to the Semi Finals.

The Qualifier will be held in Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, while Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens, and Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium will host group stage matches.

Bengaluru and Chennai have been awarded a Semi Final on Friday 7 October and Saturday 8 October respectively, with Chennai also selected to host the 2011 CLT20 Final on Sunday 9 October.

Chennai Super Kings, the defending CLT20 Champions, have been drawn in Group A along with Cape Cobras (South Africa’s Pro20 Series Champions), 2009 CLT20 Champions NSW Blues and Mumbai Indians. The fifth team from the group will be the team that finishes top of Pool B in the Qualifier.

Group B contains Royal Challengers Bangalore (2010 IPL Runner-Up), Warriors (2010 CLT20 Runner-up) and South Australian Redbacks (Australia’s Twenty20 Big Bash Champions). The remaining two places will come from the Qualifier (the top of Pool A and the next highest qualifier).

The tournament starts in Bengaluru on Friday 23 September with a Group B clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Warriors at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the second time that the venue has hosted the CLT20 opener.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only team to have qualified for the past three tournaments while their opponent was the surprise of last year’s event, using its home ground advantage in Port Elizabeth to great effect in the group stage on their way to the Final.

Group A action gets underway the following day with a double header in Chennai with Cape Cobras and NSW Blues in the early match followed by an IPL battle between MS Dhoni’s all-conquering Super Kings and Sachin Tendulkar’s Mumbai Indians.

Teams that emerge from the Qualifier won’t start their group stage matches until 25 September, giving them time to regroup and prepare for their campaign.

The seven teams already qualified have consistently shown over the past three years that they are the world’s elite. Among them are former CLT20 Champions and Finalists, as well as teams that have proved their pedigree at home and on the CLT20 stage.

The addition of the qualifier adds another dimension to this year’s tournament. While half the teams will go home disappointed before the group stage, the three that qualify will be match-hardened and a legitimate contender after surviving CLT20’s unique pressure.

Ten Men Nepal won against Timore Leste in world cup qualifier 2014!!!

Nepal Vs Timore Leste
History was created on Wednesday here in Kathmandu  at Dashrath stadium when Nepal won their first World Cup qualifiers match at home as they toiled hard to beat minnows Timor Leste 2-1 at Dasrath Stadium.

The win for Nepal was sweeter as they did with 10-man. Bharat Khawas was double yellow carded and had to leave the field. However, Gorkhali showed their composure, dominated the field and scored winning goal.

It was Anil Gurung who put Nepal ahead in the game. Gurung scored cool spot kick in 15th minute.

Timor Leste stunned everyone present at the stadium when Correira curled the free kick inside the net when Nepalese keeper  Kiran Chemzong failed to make good combination with his defenders.

Jumanu Rai, who earlier squandered as many as three clear goal scoring chances, headed home with his fantastic header off Biraj Majarjan's cross in 69th minute.Nepal will face Timore Leste in its second match in the same ground. Even the draw is sufficient to reach the next round of world cup qualifier where Nepal will face Jordan!!

Associates included in 2015 World Cup!!! Nepal have chance to prove themselves again!!!

World cricket's governing body, ICC has reversed its decision on excluding Associates from the 2015 World Cup, which will now comprise 14 teams including four Associates as it was in the 2011 edition. The decision to reinstate the Associates, which was taken on the third day of the ICC's annual conference in Hong Kong, is a reversal of the ICC's heavily criticised move to restrict the 2015 tournament to the Full Members.

The ICC has, however, reduced the number of teams in the World Twenty20s in 2012 and 2014 from 16 to 12 (ten Full Members and two Associates).
It also spelled out the qualification process it had announced for the 2019 World Cup; there will be ten teams in the tournament, with the top-eight ranked sides gaining automatic entry and the remaining two spots decided by a new qualification competition. Seen through to the logical process there would, for the first time in World Cup history, be the likelihood of a full member nation being eliminated from the competition before its start.
The decision to exclude Associates from the 2015 edition was made shortly after the 2011 World Cup final. It sparked a wave of protests, especially since Ireland, who are the leading Associate team, had performed creditably in the competition, upsetting England and competing in most of their other games.
This news has brought lots of happiness in Nepali team and they are hoping to get entry in the world cup and started preparing for the world cup. The present captain of Nepali cricket team parash Khadka says, “its great news for us” we have to start preparing for the worldcup from now onwards”

Cricket Association Nepal announces U-19 WC qualifier squad

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Wednesday announced 18-member squad for the upcoming ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup qualifiers.
Prithu Baskota will lead the Nepali team in the event scheduled to be held from July 28 to August 9 in Ireland.
Top six teams from the 10-team round-robin league event will qualify for the Youth World Cup. Other participating teams are Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, USA and Vanuatu.

Other players named in the squad include Sagar Pun, Bhuwan Karki, Naresh Budhayer, Failzur Rahman Khan, Rajesh Pulami, Subash Khakurel, Rahul Biswakarma, Avinash Karn, Krishna Karki and Pradeep Airee.
All those competed in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup where Nepal finished second behind Afghanistan to qualify for the U-19 WC qualifiers.
CAN selected seven new cricketers who were no part of the ACC event. They are Jitendra Mukhiya, Subendu Pandey, Amit Dahal, Amrit Shrestha, Amit Shrestha, Rupesh Srivastav and Nischal Pandey. Jagat Tamata is named the coach.
“We dropped Bibek Dali, Rahul Pratap Singh and Shiva Tandukar from the team played in the ACC event for their international as well as national performance was below par,” chief selection Bijaya Sharma said.

Sharma also added that the performance of the U-19 players during the qualifiers could promote some of the players to the national squad. “We didn’t announce the national team because we want to see how these young players perform,” he said.
National team is slated to participate in the ACC Twenty20 event in December in Kathmandu.
